Day 260 (16th May)

Onion pakoras with a book and a hot drink on a rainy afternoon — is there anything better than this?

Except it was way too warm outside to have a hot drink, and it wasn't raining.

I wanted to make onion pakoras anyway, and no one could stop me, so I did.

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup of gram flour (besan)

1 and 3/4 cups of water

3 small-sized onions

1 teaspoon of salt

1/4 of a teaspoon of red chilli powder, cumin powder, and turmeric

Oil for heating

Chopped green chillies to taste

Directions:

1) Sift the gram flour into a large bowl and gradually add water to the flour.

2) Add all the spices into the flour mixture along with the salt and chopped chillies (can omit).

3) Heat oil on a stovetop (high-heat).

4) Chop the onions into slices and add them to the mixture.

5) Thoroughly mix using a spatula till all the onions are coated.

6) In around five minutes, the oil should be hot enough to cook the pakoras.

7) Drop a spoon full of the onion mixture into the oil.

8) Cook until golden brown (about eight minutes).

9) Serve hot with ketchup or any kind of chutney. Enjoy!

Let me know if you try making these :o
