Day 171 (16th February)

I made atta ladoos with my nani! This is entirely her recipe. :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg roasted "bhunna" atta

  • 1 kg ghee or clarified butter

  • 1 kg boora/coarse sugar

  • 200 grams dry fruits (we used chopped almonds)

  • 200 grams gondh/edible gum

Method:

  • Heat 1/2 kg ghee in a kadhai on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Add gondh little by little to the ghee and cook for around 7 minutes.

  • Take the gondh out of the ghee (let the ghee sit in the kadhai) and let it cool.

  • Grind the gondh in a mixer.

  • Take out your atta and add the gondh to it.

  • Add the chopped almonds to the ghee and fry them for around 5 minutes.

  • Take the almonds out of the ghee (let the ghee sit in the kadhai) and let it cool.

  • Add the almonds to the atta.

  • Add the coarse sugar bit by bit to the atta.

  • Mix everything together.

  • Heat the other 1/2 kg ghee on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Let the ghee cool for about 10 minutes.

  • Add all of the ghee to the atta mixture.

  • Form ladoos.

  • Let them dry at room temperature for about 3 to 4 hours.

  • Enjoy!
