Day 57 (25/10): Rilakumma Pull Apart Rolls
Ever since I saw these rolls on Reddit*, I have been in love! I finally got to try them yesterday, and they looked the cutest (also tasted delicious).
Unbelievably, the recipe is quite simple – all it requires is time. The dough needs quite a bit of time to rest. For me, the recipe was the right length of time since I worked on it during school breaks and was done with it by the end of the day.
The best part is decorating the bread! Making the little ears and eyes made me so happy. I had a tiring day, and this was the perfect way to unwind.
For the white icing, I combined about a cup of powdered sugar with two teaspoons of milk. Make sure the icing is a pipeable consistency – you don't want it to be drippy – that will only make your bread wet! While for the chocolate icing, I used half a cup of powdered sugar, a teaspoon of milk, a teaspoon of cocoa powder, and gel brown colouring (to make it darker).
I'm in love with the final product! It's not perfect by any means, but it makes me happy. I crossed another item off my to-bake list, so I'm content!
